Tennouzan
Koicha (thick tea) grade Uji matcha.
Originating from Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, this koicha tea presents a rich, full-bodied, and intense profile with a prolonged aftertaste. It features complex flavour notes including toasted seeds, roasted coffee, cocoa beans, and dark chocolate, complemented by a subtle creaminess. This particular tea is ideally suited for connoisseurs who prefer distinctive and robust flavours rather than mild and sweet ones. When prepared as a thin tea, the delicate balance of the tea’s flavours tends to be disrupted, often resulting in pronounced astringency and bitterness. Therefore, it is advisable to prepare this tea with a higher dilution—using 70 ml of water at 80°C for every 1.5 grams of tea—to preserve its harmonious taste. The tea is optimally enjoyed in its traditional thick form (koicha).
