Exquisite Usucha (thin tea) for daily enjoyment, brought to you by Yamamasa Koyamaen

We are pleased to present our premium Usucha (thin tea) grade Uji matcha, now offered in newly designed eco-friendly box packaging that maintains the same exceptional quality and authentic flavour you have come to expect.

Ogurayama matcha is renowned for its exceptional taste, providing a luxurious and indulgent experience. This matcha is characterised by a mild profile, complemented by sweet, creamy, and full-bodied delicate flavours. As an Usucha tea, it delivers a delightful and uplifting experience, appealing both to seasoned matcha enthusiasts seeking a more nuanced flavour and to newcomers eager to explore the world of matcha.

For added convenience, this matcha is also available in pre-portioned sticks, each containing the precise amount required for one serving. This packaging solution is ideal for those who wish to enjoy their tea ritual while at work, traveling, or on the move, without compromising on quality or flavour. Each package contains six sticks.

Originating from Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, the tea draws its name from "Ogurayama" (小倉山), which translates to "Mount Ogura." This mountain is located in Saga, Kyoto, opposite Arashiyama across the Hozu River. Historically significant, it is reputed that Fujiwara no Sadaie, also known as Fujiwara no Teika, compiled the esteemed waka anthology "Hyakunin Isshu" ("One Hundred Poets, One Poem Each") at his lodge situated on Mount Ogura. Consequently, this influential collection is occasionally referred to as the "Ogura Hyakunin Isshu," underscoring the cultural heritage associated with the region and the tea.

This refined matcha exemplifies the harmonious blend of tradition, quality, and convenience, making it an excellent choice for those seeking to enrich their daily tea experience with a product steeped in history and crafted with care.

“All items are sold in their original packaging from the manufacturer. Sealed and unopened.”
