Izumi-No-Mukashi (Ceremonial Matcha)
Izumi no Mukashi is an elegant usucha (thin tea) carefully selected by Kōshin Sōkei Sōshō, the esteemed master of the Enshū school. This ceremonial-grade matcha has been meticulously crafted to honor the traditions of the Enshū-ryū, specifically designed for daily tea gatherings within this refined cultural practice.
Renowned for its light and smooth flavor profile, Izumi no Mukashi presents a gentle umami taste complemented by a subtle sweetness and an exceptionally low level of bitterness. The term “Izumi,” which translates to “spring” or “fountain,” symbolizes qualities such as clarity, freshness, and quiet profundity. These attributes harmonize perfectly with the sophisticated and understated aesthetic principles that define the Enshū school.
This particular matcha is ideally suited for the preparation of usucha, providing a tranquil and inviting experience that appeals equally to seasoned tea practitioners and novices alike. Its vibrant green colour and delicate fragrance further enhance its appeal, making it an excellent selection for moments dedicated to calm reflection and serene contemplation. Through its refined character and thoughtful design, Izumi no Mukashi embodies the essence of traditional Japanese tea ceremony values while offering an accessible and enjoyable experience for all participants.
